Topographic Survey
This form of survey is used for mapping and identification purposes. The contours of the ground and present features in the surface and subsurface (i.e. trees, buildings, streets, walkways, manholes, utility poles, retaining walls, etc.) must be located. Perimeter boundary lines and lines of easements may be included if the survey is to be provided as a base map for residential or commercial designs. This is necessary for the design of the roadways and to accurately display zones and other agency requirements. "Benchmarks" are required in Topographic Surveys. This shows ground contours and information related to the surface, underground utilities, and required setbacks.
